The Cubs have bolstered their starting rotation by agreeing to a two-year, $29 million deal with left-hander Matthew Boyd, according to the New York Post. Signed by Cleveland as a free agent on June 29, Boyd didn't pitch for Guardiabs until August after recovering from Tommy John surgery. He was 2-2 with a 2.72 ERA in eight starts after going 5-5 with a 5.45 ERA in 15 starts in 2023 for the Tigers.Boyd is 46-69 with a 4.85 career over 10 seasons, including eight in Detroit. He joins a Cubs rotation led by lefties Justin Steele and Shota Imanaga and right-hander Jameson Taillon.
