Crews rescue tree-trimmer who was tangled, shocked by electrical wires

A man trimming trees in Westwood was hospitalized on Saturday after he was snagged and shocked by electrical wires while hanging 25-feet in the air, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

According to authorities, rescue crews first arrived at the scene, just outside The Los Angeles Country Club, at about 11:05 a.m. and found that the 40-year-old man was trimming trees when he was snagged on safety equipment with his trimming pole trapped in electrical wires.

The fire department said the man had "ongoing potential" of intermittent contact with the wires. He was shocked by the wires at one point, authorities said, but remained alert and oriented.

By 11:56 a.m., crews deenergized the high-voltage wires and rescued the man.

He was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

No additional details were immediately made available.
