A crash involving nearly a dozen people stalled traffic on the 5 Freeway in Los Angeles overnight.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the rollover crash with a total of ten patients occurred on the northbound span of the 5 near Paxton Street in Pacoima at 11:51 p.m. Saturday.
Four patients were transported to a local hospital, including two in serious condition. LAFD identified the two seriously injured victims as a 27-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man.
The remaining six patients were said to have declined transport. The extent of their injuries – if any – was not disclosed.
Video posted to the Citizen App shows one of the cars involved in the collision – a silver sedan – sustained significant damage. Another vehicle was also seen overturned on its side.
Footage taken by drivers shows bumper-to-bumper traffic as several lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway were closed in the immediate aftermath of the collision.
It is unclear exactly how many cars were involved in the crash. Whether speed or impairment were factors has also yet to be determined.
