The National Weather Service said temperatures Tuesday are expected to drop a few degrees in most parts of the region with highs of 64 to 68 near the coast, 65 to 69 in the western valleys, 59 to 64 near the foothills, 53 to 62 in the mountains and 74 to 77 in the desert.
Below-average temperatures are expected throughout the week, with Tuesday likely to be the coolest day, marked by light morning rain in the mountains and inland valleys. The NWS advised that dustings of snow may be possible in the East County highlands at elevations above 5,500 feet.
West winds will continue into Tuesday morning, with the strongest gusts reaching 40 to 65 mph in the mountains and desert areas, meteorologists reported. In areas west of the mountains, gusts are expected to peak around 30 mph.
Dry conditions should prevail Tuesday through Friday, with another cool down and a slight chances of more light showers over the weekend, the NWS said.
