SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Rounding out the work week is another day of moderate, dry and mostly sunny conditions on Friday.

But, as a broad area of low pressure that is expected to dump heavy rainfall over Northern California and an associated cold front push south, San Diego County will get more widespread cloud coverage and breezy westerly winds.

As this cold front moves through Southern California, it is expected to lose a lot of its moisture, so significant rainfall in San Diego County is not likely.

Models have been trending drier and drier so some areas may not get any precipitation, but others could get periods of drizzle to light rain beginning as early as Saturday evening.

Most of the rain activity is expected late Saturday evening overnight into early Sunday morning. Sunday is expected to be cloudy and cool and somewhat dry. There is another pulse of potential moisture for Monday or Tuesday, but again it is likely to be isolated light showers.

In total, San Diego County is looking an only a few hundredths an inch of rain for coast and valleys with potential up to a tenth inch for places like Julian and Pine Valley.

Regardless of rain, widespread cloudy cover and breezy westerly winds will pick up.

Daytime highs for Saturday will hang out in the low to mid-60s for coast, valleys and mountains with upper 70s in the deserts.
