In 2017, around 150 volunteers gave more than 3,000 hours service to the city of Savage.
For the second year, the Savage City Council acknowledged these volunteers with a “Cookies with Council” reception before the volunteers were formally thanked during the April 16 meeting. Volunteers assist the city in a number of ways, from answering phones at City Hall, to helping run favorite city events, such as the Halloween Bash and Flashlight Egg Scramble. Volunteers also work alongside the police department to support community outreach initiatives.
At the meeting, each volunteer’s name was announced and they were invited to step forward to receive a certificate of appreciation. April 15-21 was formally proclaimed Volunteer Week in Savage by Mayor Janet Williams.
“We sincerely thank all of our volunteers who provide invaluable support to city staff,” said Mayor Williams. “No matter what the volunteer role, these volunteers help make our community better and stronger.”
