Colorado Springs police seize over a hundred pounds of methamphetamine

COLORADO SPRINGS (KXRM) — The Colorado Springs Police Department said the Metro Narcotics Unit seized over a hundred pounds of methamphetamine on Sunday.

According to CSPD, on Saturday, Jan. 18 MNU was notified that a vehicle carrying a large amount of meth could be coming into the Colorado Springs area. On Sunday, Jan. 19, CSPD looked into the vehicle's whereabouts and initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 25.

An MNU Detective and K-9 Nyx investigated the truck with an "open-air sniff" and K-9 Nyx alerted to the presence of a trained odor coming from the truck. Police found three large bins in the truck bed and found in two of the bins had about 107.2 pounds of methamphetamine. The investigation is active and ongoing.

"We are extremely proud of K-9 Nyx and the entire CSPD Metro Narcotics team for their hard work and dedication to removing drugs from the streets of Colorado Springs," wrote CSPD.
