Colorado Springs breaks heat record Saturday, Nov. 23

COLORADO SPRINGS (KXRM) — The end of November is now less than a week away and Colorado Springs has broken another heat record. Temperatures for November were largely below average with 15 out of 24 days so far being below normal for this time of year.

However, Saturday, Nov. 23, was quite the exception, as high temperatures for Colorado Springs soared into the lower 70s! With an official high of 71 degrees, the Springs broke their previous record of 70 degrees set back in 2021.

Highs elsewhere across the area were likewise warm. Pueblo, Trinidad, and Lamar just barely missed 70 degrees. Meanwhile, Denver also reached 71 degrees but didn't quite break their record of 73 set back in 1915. Limon and La Junta still remain significantly cooler due to the snowpack on the ground that refuses to melt.

Typically, Colorado Springs is supposed to be at about 50 degrees for late November. The record broken on Saturday put the area more than 20 degrees above normal. Meteorological Winter begins on the first of December when temperatures usually average in the lower to middle 40s.
