Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles offices cannot issue new driver’s licenses, permits or ID cards because of a technical issue with a national verification system, state officials said Friday.
DMV staff are working to reschedule everyone who had an appointment Friday after the national Social Security Online Verification System stopped working, the agency said in a news release.
Online driver’s license and ID card services are also not available. DMV offices can still provide learner’s permit tests, commercial driver’s license permits and endorsements, motor vehicle records and hearing requests.
DMV officials do not have a timeline for fixing the problem.
