DENVER (KDVR) -- Incumbent Rep. Yadira Caraveo has a slight lead over challenger Gabe Evans in Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, a new poll released Wednesday morning shows.
Caraveo, a Democrat, leads 47.5% over Evans, a Republican, who has 45.8% in the recent poll. Seven percent of respondents were still undecided when the polling occurred between Oct. 24 and Oct. 26.
This is the second FOX31/Channel 2/Emerson College poll in the district this month. In a poll published Oct. 2, the two candidates in the 8th District U.S. House race were tied at 44% with 12% undecided.
"There is a significant gender divide separating the two congressional candidates; Evans leads
among men 55% to 42%, while Caraveo leads among women 52% to 37%,” Spencer Kimball,
executive director of Emerson College Polling, said with the latest results.
Presidential support and other issues
The same late-October poll asked respondents about who they supported in the presidential election, with 48.5% in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris and 47.9% supporting former president Donald Trump. Of the respondents, 2.9% supported another candidate and 0.7% were undecided.
The top issue for voters is the economy, at 33.8%, followed by housing affordability at 16.2%,
immigration at 15.0%, and threats to democracy at 11.7%.
Methodology
The Emerson College Polling/KDVR/KWGN/The Hill survey was conducted from Oct. 24 through Oct. 26, 2024. The sample of Colorado 8th district likely voters is n=485. The polls have a
credibility interval, similar to a poll’s margin of error (MOE), of +/- 4.4 percentage points. The
data sets were weighted by gender, education, race, age, and party affiliation based on 2024
likely voter modeling. Turnout modeling per state is based on U.S. Census parameters, exit
polling, and voter registration data.
It is important to remember that subsets based on demographics, such as gender, age, education, and race/ethnicity, carry higher credibility intervals, as the sample size is reduced.
Survey results should be understood within the poll’s range of scores, and with a confidence interval of 95% a poll will fall outside the range of scores 1 in 20 times.
Data was collected by contacting cell phones via MMS-to-web text (phone list provided by
Aristotle) and an online panel of voters provided by CINT. The survey was offered in English.
All questions asked in this survey with the exact wording, along with full results, demographics, and cross tabulations can be found under Full Results. The survey was funded by Nexstar Media.
