Buffalo man pleads guilty following 2018 armed robbery at St. Bonaventure University

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Buffalo man pleaded guilty to gun and drug charges after he and two others allegedly held St. Bonaventure students at gunpoint to rob them back in 2018, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Thursday.

According to officials, 28-year-old Diamond Allen conspired with two others, including his cousin, to execute an armed robbery at St. Bonaventure University. The three allegedly held students at gunpoint inside a dorm room in October 2018 to steal marijuana.

Nine months later, in a separate incident, a co-conspirator of Allen's was shot at the corner of Main Street and Glenwood during a drug deal, officials said. Allen allegedly fired a weapon repeatedly at the person he believed to be responsible.

Officials said Allen was in possession of a .40 caliber firearm and a Polymer80 ghost gun.

Allen pleaded guilty to discharge of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, possession of a second firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and narcotics conspiracy.

He faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 20 years in prison and a maximum of life. Allen will also have to pay a $5 million fine if convicted.
