BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Buffalo man was arrested on Nov. 10 in connection with a scheme to defraud a vulnerable woman out of over $6,000, Buffalo police announced.
Police said on Nov. 6, a neighbor reported that the woman was being defrauded by a known suspect. 69-year-old Rufus Boyd allegedly collected checks from the woman totaling over $6,000 for services that were not done at her house since June 2023, police said.
Boyd was charged with one count of third-degree grand larceny, a felony, and one count of fraudulently obtaining a signature, a misdemeanor.
Boyd was previously arrested in February 2022 for defrauding a vulnerable adult with developmental disabilities in excess of $16,500, officials said. At the time, he was charged with one count of third-degree grand larceny and one count of second-degree scheme to defraud.
