Since Americans around the country exercised their right to vote on Election Day, a couple of ballot processing centers have been forced to evacuate.
In both Orange and Riverside counties, bomb threats prompted their registrar of voters to evacuate for a short period as ballot processing was taking place.
According to the Orange County Registrar of Voters, their bomb threat took place on Tuesday. The evacuation lasted about 15 minutes before the threat was determined non-credible.
"The Orange County Registrar of Voters is committed to ensuring equal access to the election process, protecting the integrity of votes, and maintaining a transparent, accurate, and fair election system. We are working diligently to address this incident and keep all staff and members of the public who visit our office safe," said Bob Page, Registrar of Voters.
In Riverside County, the building was evacuated on Friday after receiving a bomb threat. The building was checked by the county's sheriff’s department and bomb squad, with no explosives found.
That evacuation lasted about 5 minutes.
According to the Riverside County Registrar of Voters, ballot processing continued on Saturday.
"The County of Riverside Registrar of Voters remains committed to the safety of the public and our staff. We continue to prioritize transparency and encourage the public to observe all processes as we ensure a fair, accurate, and transparent election," the Riverside County registrar said.
The two bomb threats came alongside several across the country. On Tuesday, the FBI said that many appeared to come from Russia.
As of Saturday, it's unclear if the threats to the California sites originated from Russia.
