Firefighters on Thursday morning found a body while putting out a tree fire outside of an apartment building in Los Angeles.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the blaze was reported at 5:06 a.m. on the 500 block of East Vernon Avenue in the city's South Park neighborhood.
The tree that was on fire was near a "larger area of rubbish," the LAFD said. There, crews found a deceased person.
It's unclear whether the person died from the fire or was already dead before the blaze started. According to the LAFD, the cause of death is yet to be determined.
