The death of a woman in Long Beach is being investigated as a homicide after her body was found in the area of a fire, authorities confirmed.
At 4:24 a.m. Sunday, officers with the Long Beach Police Department responded to the area of 2nd Street and the San Gabriel River to assist with a brush fire.
After the Long Beach Fire Department extinguished the fire, the body of an adult woman was found.
The death is being investigated as a homicide.
It wasn't clear if the woman was killed before the fire was started, or in the blaze.
No additional details, including the identity of the woman or any information regarding a potential suspect, were immediately made available.
