Bob Lee murder trial verdict to be announced: Live updates

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- After seven days of deliberation, the jury in the trial of Nima Momeni, the man accused of murdering Cash App founder Bob Lee, has reached a verdict. The six-man, six-woman jury reached a unanimous decision just before 4 p.m. on Monday.

The jury is set to read the verdict at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday with jurors, the judge, Momeni, Lee's family, Momeni's supporters, defense attorney, prosecutors, and the media inside the courtroom. Judge Alexandra Gordon has instructed that no cameras, laptops, or cellphones be allowed in the courtroom.

Lee, 43, was a superstar in the Bay Area tech industry when he was stabbed through the heart under the Bay Bridge on April 4, 2023. Around 2:30 a.m., Lee left behind a blood trail and called 911 begging for help until he collapsed on Main Street. He told the dispatcher that someone stabbed him, but did not name the killer with his last words.

Prosecutors said the defendant murdered Lee to get revenge for Momeni’s younger sister, Khazar. Momeni's defense argued that Lee became enraged over a "bad joke," drew a knife, and that Momeni stabbed him in self-defense after turning it back on the tech mogul.

KRON4 has reporters at the courthouse and will provide updates.
