ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Barry Sopinski has cheered for the Buffalo Bills since the very beginning. He grew up in Kenmore and continues to cheer on his team from Denver.
He had a flag made up with the words "we billieve" on it to bring it to the game in Seattle and sign the final score on it.
“We believe, that's what we're all about,” Sopinski said.
He then connected with other fans online and has organized a journey for the flag to go to every game for the rest of the season.
It's traveled from Seattle to Orchard Park, to Indianapolis, connecting Bills fans all over the nation, one shipment at a time.
“These are connections that you make, that you never, you're not trying to make those connections they all of a sudden happen. With everything that's kind of messed up sometimes in this world, to have things like this to be part of to bring people together, it's really special.” Sopinski said.
So far, each game the flag has been at, the Bills win.
This week it's in the hands of Priscilla Pagliei, a lifelong Bills fan from Orchard Park.
“I’m going to be bringing it to probably one of the biggest games of the season so that's super exciting I hope to continue to good luck trend of the flag being 3 and 0.” Paglieli said
She's hoping to add a winning score to the flag, and then send it forward to the next fan on the list.
“I just think it's a cool idea, brings people together and it's just something fun and I’ll always remember, and I’ll have pictures and memories and I always like to be a part of things the bills mafia do for the community and positivity and bringing light to how awesome the fanbase is.” Paglieli said.
Sopinski's goal, is bring it to the big game in New Orleans this year.
“That’s the way Buffalo, as a community you know," he said. "It connects people.”
