SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- In the Bay Area, the place to be for fireworks on New Year's Eve is along San Francisco's waterfront. If you're looking for the best places to watch fireworks on New Year's Eve, here are our recommendations.
The Embarcadero
San Francisco's Embarcadero is right where the action is. What could beat looking up and seeing the iconic SF Ferry Building clocktower of the Bay Bridge bathed in the glow of exploding fireworks? A short stroll down to the water, and you might even be able to see the show reflected on the waters of the SF Bay.
If you're lucky, you might be able to get into one of the many restaurants along the Embarcadero and enjoy the show over cocktails or a midnight snack.
Telegraph Hill
If you can brave the traffic, the area near the base of Coit Tower will put you up above the action with a panoramic view of the Embarcadero, Bay Bridge and the entire waterfront.
Twin Peaks
If you'd rather avoid the traffic and crowds of the Embarcadero, you could head for higher ground. San Francisco's Twin Peaks area gives you unparallelled, spectacular views of the city and the bay -- when it's not cloudy -- allowing you to enjoy a bird's eye view of the fireworks show.
The East Bay
If you want to avoid crossing the bridge, or trying to get a late-night rideshare, you could catch the fireworks from the East Bay. The Berkeley Marina, Crown Beach in Alameda or Grizzly Peak all offer unobstructed views of the Bay Bridge and the San Francisco waterfront, where the action takes place.
The North Bay
Across the Golden Gate Bridge to the north, you can also catch the show from Golden Gate Vista Point in the Marin Headlands where you can see the fireworks light up the sky with a view of both bridges.
If you can get a reservation, you might squeeze into one of the North Bay's famous waterfront restaurants like Scoma's in Sausalito.
Although, if you'd rather ring in 2025 from the comfort of home, KRON4 has you covered. You can join KRON4's Grant Lodes and Justine Waldman for "KRON4 New Year's Live."
