The Movie “Dirty Coin”
It is recommended of attendees to arrive by 7 p.m. in order to participate in the premiere-related activities. Bitcoiner Weezel will give a welcome talk at 6:30 p.m. titled “Bitcoin: Will it boil the oceans or save humanity?” A representative from the “Green Mining DAO,” who will use the example of mangos grown using the waste heat from mining operations, to show how Bitcoin might help with climate protection, will follow at 7:30 p.m.
Alana Mediavilla’s film “Dirty Coin” seeks to shift public opinion of Bitcoin mining by emphasizing its possible contribution to energy transition and environmental protection.
To examine the debates, myths, mistakes, and environmental protection possibilities of Bitcoin mining, it blends expert interviews, comic-like scenes, and breathtaking images from mining farms and energy plants.
At the end of April, at the same time as the Bitcoin halving event, “Dirty Coin” had its world premiere at the Warsaw Bitcoin Film Festival and took home the best film prize. By encouraging a conversation that has only been basic up to now, Mediavilla hopes to close the divide between environmentalists and Bitcoin proponents.
Mining Bitcoin Controversies
The substantial electricity use and related CO2 emissions that fuel human-caused climate change have long been a source of criticism for bitcoin mining. Climate activists, green lawmakers, and clean energy corporations mainly disregard these statements despite counterarguments from the Bitcoin community.
CoinMarketCap data show that the price of Bitcoin (BTC) at the moment of writing is $69,842.52, down 1.87% from the previous day. With a rise of 9.52% during the last seven days, it does, however, exhibit a bullish tendency.
Another development reflects persistent worldwide worries and regulatory obstacles: the Venezuelan Ministry of Electric Power has declared intentions to outlaw Bitcoin mining from the country’s power system, according to a prior report by Crypto News Flash.
Discussion Panel
The evening will come to an end with a panel discussion including Timo Steipe of Munich International Mining, climate and Bitcoin campaigner Margot Paez, and other specialists starting at 9:15 p.m. With the event’s pro-Bitcoin slant, it is anticipated that the conversation will lean Bitcoin.
In general, the Berlin premiere of “Dirty Coin” seeks to provide a forum for fair debates on this contentious subject and to promote a more sophisticated knowledge of the ecological effects and possible advantages of Bitcoin mining.
