AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Diagon Alley Austin announced Friday this will be the final year for the holiday displays outside the south Austin home, according to a social media post.
"Everything has a beginning and an end. After years of putting our hearts into this display, we have made the bittersweet decision to put down our wands, and move on to our next adventure," the organization said. "We have thoroughly enjoyed sharing the holidays with all our friends, family, neighbors and our community—both here in Austin, and those who follow our journey online every year,"
Diagon Alley Austin has created elaborate decorations and displays for years, which has transformed into Hogwart's Castle for Halloween and, most recently, the Yule Ball theme, according to the social media page.
Joel Pace began the tradition back in 2017 as a way to cheer up his wife after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. From there, the display has expanded and has allowed people to drive by or walk over for a quick visit.
"Thank you all for bringing so much magic into OUR lives with your kind words and encouragement. It’s meant the world to us. In the end, we just built a creative project," the organization said.
