AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Austin resident is $1 million richer after claiming the winning ticket from an Oct. 22 Mega Millions drawing, the Texas Lottery announced Wednesday.
The claimant — who's choosing to remain anonymous — purchased the ticket at CMART, located at 7811 S. First St., Ste. 100. The second-tier prize-winning ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers listed (8-43-48-58-60) but didn't match the Mega Ball number, which was 4.
The Texas Lottery first began operating in 1992. Revenue from Texas Lottery supports public education and veteran services statewide. More than $39 billion has benefitted state programming since the lottery system was created more than 30 years ago, per the Texas Lottery Commission.
