SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- An atmospheric river-driven storm that began sweeping down into the Bay Area Friday is sent to drench the region through the weekend and into next week. Scattered light rain is set to continue across the North Bay Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
A broad area of light rain is set to move onshore and shift rain activity to the south overnight into Saturday, according to the NWS. A flood watch has been issued by the NWS from Friday through Sunday night.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding in some places, according to the weather service. Forecasters are advising people living in flood-prone area to clean gutters and storm drains.
The rain in the region over the next week is expected to be accompanied by gusty winds and daytime temperatures in the 50s to low 60s.
