Armed man shot twice by Weld County sheriff’s deputy east of Greeley, police say
Investigators said the man fired a gun while Weld County deputies were on scene. One deputy shot the man twice in response.
An armed man was shot and injured Sunday by a Weld County sheriff’s deputy near Greeley, according to investigators.
Around 12:16 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a disturbance reported in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue Lane in unincorporated Weld County just east of Greeley, according to a news release from the 19th Judicial District Critical Response Team.
When deputies arrived, they found an armed man who investigators say fired his gun while deputies were on scene. They did not say whether the man’s shots were fired at the deputies.
A Weld County deputy shot the man — who has not been publicly identified — twice in response, investigators said in the release.
Paramedics took the man to a hospital and he is expected to survive, investigators said.
