APD: Woman arrested in connection with crash involving pedestrian, food truck
A woman wanted in connection with a crash involving multiple pedestrians and a food truck in southeast Austin last month was arrested last week, the Austin Police Department told KXAN Tuesday.
AUSTIN (KXAN) — A woman wanted in connection with a southeast Austin crash into a food truck that injured multiple pedestrians was arrested last week, the Austin Police Department told KXAN Tuesday.
Regina Rodela, 38, was arrested on Nov. 7 and was charged with three counts of aggravated assault -- a second-degree felony. She was booked into the Travis County Correctional Complex on a $225,000 bond, where she remained as of Tuesday, according to APD.

On Oct. 22, APD, the Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the 2500 block of Elmont Drive in southeast Austin for a report of a vehicle that hit four pedestrians and then a food truck, which caused it to catch fire.

Around 4:21 p.m. that day, officers responded to a call in the same area. The woman, later identified as Rodela, told police her phone was stolen. However, police were not able to find a suspect or the phone she said was stolen, police said in the release.
Officers then left the area around 5:02 p.m. Then, around 5:14 p.m., officers responded to a crash hotshot call at the same location and “found multiple victims who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. Additionally, a food truck was on fire,” police said in a news release.
Rodela left the scene and failed to stop and render aid, according to police.
