JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Longtime St. Louis-area Congresswoman Ann Wagner has won reelection for a seventh consecutive term in Missouri U.S. Congress, the Associated Press projects.
Wagner, a Republican incumbent, defeats Democrat Ray Hartmann for Missouri's 2nd Congressional District within the U.S. House of Representatives, per Race Call projections from the Associated Press.
The 2nd District includes much of south and west St. Louis County, Franklin County, plus parts of Warren and St. Charles Counties.
In an interview with FOX 2 last week, Wagner emphasized her legislative achievements, including bills addressing crime and sex trafficking, as reasons she should be reelected. She noted she was ardently pro-life with some exceptions, and has focused her recent campaign efforts around inflation, crime, and immigration.
Hartmann, Wagner's opponent and the founder of the Riverfront Times, positioned himself as a candidate with ambitions to stay actively engaged within the district. He offered a stark contrast to Wagner's views on abortion, supporting Roe V. Wade protections and expanded access to contraception.
