Via Star Tribune: “Amber Alert leads to arrest of Brainerd man who allegedly killed one, kidnapped woman and four kids. The suspect was identified by authorities as Chad Aanerud, who has a lengthy history of criminal activity in Crow Wing County.”  

Star Tribune’s Deena Winter writes that Minneapolis City Council voted against buffer zones for pot dispensaries, allowing them to operate without spacing required between them. 

Mike Bunge at KIMT3 reports Minnesota has reached a settlement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield to make mental health care services more transparent and accessible

WCCO’s John Lauritsen writes three people were shot in Dinkytown early Friday morning at the University of Minnesota. There is no suspect information. 

Via Pioneer Press: “So far, 919,581 ballots have been cast in Minnesota ahead of the Nov. 5 election. Local election offices will open for weekend voting on Saturday and Sunday.”

Duluth News Tribune’s Peter Passi reports the Duluth plow-naming contest entries are piling up as residents only have a few days left to weigh in on the winner.
