(KRON) -- An alleged fentanyl trafficker was extradited from Honduras to San Francisco on Thursday after he was charged with a conspiracy to sell fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine in the Bay Area, the United States Department of Justice said.
Gustavo Erazo, 49, is a Honduran national who previously lived in Oakland. He was arrested in November 2022 outside a Berkeley apartment with suspected fentanyl, suspected heroin, and suspected cocaine in his backpack.
Inside the apartment, police officers found almost 21 pounds of suspected drugs, including nearly 15 pounds of suspected fentanyl, per the DOJ. They also found drug-manufacturing equipment, two guns and cash.
Erazo returned to Honduras after being charged in federal court. The U.S. government worked with the Honduran government to bring him back to the United States.
He is facing charges of conspiracy to distribute 400+ grams of fentanyl and possession of cocaine, heroin and fentanyl with intent to distribute. He is facing a life sentence in prison and millions of dollars in fines.
