A mayoral forum was held on Tuesday for those looking to become the next Albany Mayor. Also, Green Island voters approved sending some students to Watervliet High School in the fall. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this Wednesday.
1. Capital District Working Families Party hosts Albany mayor forum
The Capital District Working Families Party (WFP) hosted a mayoral forum on Tuesday for the candidates vying for the Albany mayor position. Three candidates participated, Albany Auditor Dr. Dorcey Applyrs, County Legislator Dr. Carolyn Mclaughlin, and Common Council President Corey Ellis.
2. Green Island votes in favor of plan to send some students to Watervliet HS
Green Island residents voted to approve a measure that will send all grades 9-12 students to Watervliet High School beginning in September. The plan passed with a vote of 135 to 28.
3. Gas leak hospitalizes West Coxsackie McDonald’s employees
Multiple employees were hospitalized after a gas leak was reported at the Route 9W McDonald’s in West Coxsackie.
4. Clifton Park childcare worker accused of injuring child
New York State Police have arrested a childcare worker in Clifton Park. Amy Henninger, 48, of Ballston Spa faces charges after she allegedly injured a child.
5. DeFazio’s Pizza to open new Troy location on Wednesday
DeFazio’s Pizzeria will officially open the doors of a new and long-awaited location in Troy on Wednesday. The new space will be located at 216 4th Street.
