ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Happy Monday! Meteorologist Matt Mackie says stray showers will end around 9 a.m. this morning with highs in the mid-to-upper 50s mild, comfy, quiet conditions for the rest of the day.

Ravena firefighters are helping to contain the Jennings Creek wildfire in Orange county. Also, a local cathedral welcomed displaced members of the Elijah Missionary Church after last week's fire. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this morning.

1. Ravena firefighters help contain Jennings Creek wildfire

The Jennings Creek wildfire has spread nearly 100 acres further since Saturday, but the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) said the fire is still about 88% contained. They also confirmed that although the fire breached a containment line Saturday night, no structures were damaged.

2. Local cathedral welcomes displaced members of Elijah Missionary Church after fire

For the first time since the Elijah Missionary Church caught fire in the south end of Albany Thursday night, church members along with Bishop Avery Comithier and Father David Mickiewicz gathered at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Downtown Albany.

3. NYS Comptroller report looks at agriculture in the Empire State

Farming is a multi-billion-dollar industry in the Empire State. A new New York State Comptroller report shows farms grossed $8.5 billion dollars in 2022, a nearly 48-percent increase since 2017.

4. Lake George Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics NY

Lake George will be hosting its annual Polar Plunge on November 23. The event will be held at Shepard Beach Park on Canada Street.

5. Schoharie Co. awarded $30 million grant for broadband

After receiving a $30 million Municipal Infrastructure Program grant, broadband coverage for rural communities in Schoharie County will reach 100%. Over 5,000 rural locations in the county will establish broadband coverage through the funding.
