The department said a group of individuals ransacked shelves in the Walgreens on Webster Street. Officers assisting in the operation intervened when the thieves left the store, according to Alameda PD.
Police said all five individuals were arrested for multiple offenses, including organized retail theft, warrants and probation violations.
“As we approach the holiday season, APD is committed to ensuring a safe shopping environment for our community,” said Alameda PD. “We will be increasing patrols in shopping districts and continuing similar operations to deter theft.”
