3rd annual Veterans Day Ruck March coming to Voorheesville
This nonprofit fundraiser features a 6.8-mile march down the Albany County Rail Trail, beginning at the Voorheesville American Legion and ending at the new Blackbirds Tavern.
VOORHEESVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The third annual Veterans Day Ruck March returns to Voorheesville on Sunday, November 10. This nonprofit fundraiser features a 6.8-mile march down the Albany County Rail Trail, beginning at the Voorheesville American Legion and ending at the new Blackbirds Tavern.
Participants are invited to carry a backpack with nonperishables and toiletries for donation to the Food Pantries for the Capital District. but it is not required. The fundraiser supports the Hidden Battles Foundation, the Food Pantries, the Boot Campaign, and the Capital Region Veterans Memorial, all supporting veterans in different ways.
In-person check-in begins at 1:30 p.m. at the American Legion with registration being $25. There will be dignitary remarks, the National Anthem, and the Pledge of Allegiance before the march begins at 3 p.m. The finishers' reception begins at 5 p.m.
