(KRON) -- A 3-year-old child was struck and killed by a vehicle in Fremont on Monday, the Fremont Police Department said.
The crash happened at about 11:45 a.m. in the area of Dunsmuir Common and Colleen Terrace. First responders provided life-saving aid to the child, but they died at the scene.
A police investigation concluded that a driver was pulling out of a parking space when the child "unexpectedly moved in front of the vehicle." The front left side of the car struck the child.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors
"As we mourn this tragic incident with our community, please respect the family's privacy during this incredibly difficult time," FPD said.
The victim has not been identified.
There have now been 11 fatal crashes in Fremont this year. Six happened on city roads, three on state routes and two on private property.
