3 suspects distract victim, steal large bank withdrawal in Napa

(KRON) -- Three people suspected of distracting a 68-year-old man outside a Wells Fargo Bank in Napa to steal a large cash withdrawal were arrested last week, according to the Napa Police Department.

On Oct. 28 at around 11:25 a.m., Napa police located a suspect vehicle that was wanted in connection to an attempted robbery in Lafayette. During the traffic stop, Napa officers learned of another theft that just occurred at a Wells Fargo Bank on 3255 Jefferson Street. The three people inside the vehicle matched the descriptions of the three suspects from the Wells Fargo theft, police said.

In the Wells Fargo theft, a 68-year-old man made a large cash withdrawal from the bank and returned to his vehicle in the parking lot. While in his parked car, three suspects “worked collectively to distract the victim,” police said, and removed the cash from the front seat. The three fled the scene in the suspect vehicle.

Napa police said the theft was similar to the one in Lafayette in which the suspect vehicle was initially wanted.

The three suspects, identified as Jefferson Cadena-Barragan, Rogelber Vargas-Hernandez and Kevin Cuestas Vargas, were arrested and booked for grand theft, elder abuse and conspiracy.

The Wells Fargo victim’s money was located on one of the suspects and returned, Napa PD said.
