3 boys arrested for vehicle burglaries outside Fairfield hotels

(KRON) -- Three boys, ages 14, 15 and 16, were arrested on Friday in connection to multiple vehicle burglaries that took place outside hotels in Fairfield, according to the Fairfield Police Department.

Police responded at 2:24 a.m. to a report of a vehicle burglary at a hotel on Business Center Drive. Officers moving to the scene received a description of the suspect vehicle, which was a tan car with rear-end damage, according to authorities.

Responding police units spread out across nearby hotel parking lots as it was believed that the vehicle would still be in the area with the suspects looking to commit further crimes, Fairfield PD said. Soon after, the suspect vehicle was spotted by an officer entering the parking lot of another hotel in the area.

Three boys inside the vehicle, a 14-year-old, 15-year-old and 16-year-old, were detained, police said.

While the teens were being detained, officers learned of a second vehicle burglary that occurred at another hotel on the same night. The victims of the two burglaries arrived on the scene to positively identify their stolen property, the suspect vehicle and one of the suspects, authorities said.

More suspected stolen property was located inside the vehicle, police said, and further investigation determined the items were connected to three additional vehicle burglaries from the previous night.

The three juveniles were arrested for multiple vehicle burglaries, possession of stolen property, probation violation, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy.
