2/11/2025: Cool & mostly quiet

The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:

With mostly clear skies, it's a chilly start to the day! Early morning temperatures range from the teens to just below zero in some spots.

A weak cold front dropping down from the north will bring more clouds this afternoon. This evening, a few flurries or light snow showers are possible north of the Capital District. Little to no accumulation is expected. Otherwise, it's a quiet day with highs around 30.

Tonight will be another chilly one, with lows in the single digits and teens. Expect partly cloudy skies and light to calm winds.

A little colder for Wednesday, with more clouds and highs in the upper 20's. An approaching weather system will bring at least a little snow to the region after sunset.

After midnight, however, drier and warmer air works its way in. Expect a change to patchier wintry mix, including periods of sleet and/or freezing rain by the Thursday morning commute. We will dry out after lunchtime.

Snow totals appear low for most, with 1-3" for the Capital District, Mid-Hudson, Mohawk Valley, eastern Catskills, and Berkshires. Only a coating to an inch is expected in Schoharie County and the western Catskills. Meanwhile, slightly higher totals (3-6") are possible in parts of the Adirondacks and Green Mountains.

Friday looks chilly and blustery, but mostly dry for Valentines Day. Then, another system over the weekend that brings snow Saturday afternoon and evening before ending as wintry mix on Sunday.

Monday will be especially cold and blustery, with highs only around 20 degrees and a few lake effect snow showers, mostly to the north and west of Albany.
