Authorities are searching for whoever shot two people on the 710 Freeway during a suspected road rage incident in East Los Angeles early Wednesday morning.
Authorities learned of the incident when two people inside a Toyota Prius arrived shortly after midnight at Los Angeles Community Hospital on Olympic Boulevard suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victims said they had been shot at while driving on the 710 Freeway transition road to the 5 Freeway before continuing on to the hospital.
Both patients were in stable condition, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson told KTLA.
The motive for the shooting was under investigation but CHP officers believe that road rage was a factor.
The shooting prompted a SigAlert for the closure of several lanes on the 710 Freeway at the 5 Freeway interchange. The lanes were closed for several hours while officers searched for evidence but have since reopened.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting and no description of the suspect vehicle has been released.
Investigators believe there were other vehicles in the area at the time of the shooting and are asking that anyone with information come forward.
