2 men shot to death in Matteson, police investigate possible link
Antoine Brown, 20, of East Chicago, and Jaequan White, of Chicago, were pronounced dead Sunday after a shooting in Matteson.
Matteson police said they are investigating after two men were shot and killed Sunday in the 4300 block of Oakwood Lane.
Antoine Brown, 20, of the 3600 block of Main Street, East Chicago, was pronounced dead just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, according to the Cook County medical examainer’s office.
He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and his death was ruled a homicide by the office.
Jaequan White, 19, of the 9300 block of South Stewart Avenue in Chicago, died of multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 2:31 p.m. at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Hospital, according to the medical examiner’s office. His death was also ruled a homicide.
Matteson police said they responded at about 2 p.m. Sunday to the Oakwood Lane address and found one man, later identified as White, had been shot and taken to Franciscan.
Investigators learned that a second man, identified as Brown, had been driven to South Suburban Hospital.
Police said they are working with with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force on the shootings and a possible connection.
