2 Colorado ski resorts named among USA Today's 10 Best for going solo
Colorado is home to two of the best ski resorts for solo skiers, according to USA Today.
DENVER (KDVR) -- Ski trips are fun with a group of friends or family by your side, but there are some benefits to solo skiing, whether it be peaceful alone time, shorter lines for singles or taking breaks at your own convenience.
If that sounds appealing, the Colorado high country is a good place to be.
The Centennial State is home to two of the best ski resorts for solo skiers, according to USA Today.
Near Grand Junction, USA Today said Powderhorn Mountain Resort in Grand Mesa is a "hidden gem," with some of the most affordable prices of all ski areas and resorts in Colorado.
The publication highlighted the resort's close proximity to restaurants, breweries, wineries and affordable boutique hotels.
"Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a two-helmet day: Ski in the morning and ride a bike in the afternoon on the Lunch Loops trail near Grand Junction," USA Today wrote.
Steamboat Resort in Steamboat Springs also made the list, with USA Today highlighting its free mogul clinic on the mountain with Olympic medalist Nelson Carmichael.
USA Today said that the mountain has plenty of terrain to explore and noted that Steamboat Springs offers plenty of activities on and off the mountain.
"After skiing, ride a free city bus to town for a meal and to shop for Western apparel," the publication wrote.
The next nearest resorts on the list were Deer Valley Ski Resort in Park City, Utah, and Big Sky Resort in Big Sky, Montana.
