17-year-old killed in dirt bike accident in Schenectady
The Schenectady Police Department and Schenectady County Sheriff's Office are currently investigating a fatal dirt bike accident that occurred on Friday night.
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Schenectady Police Department and Schenectady County Sheriff's Office are currently investigating a fatal dirt bike accident that occurred on Friday night. A 17-year-old female reportedly died as a result of the incident.
At about 8:49 p.m., Schenectady police responded to a report of a serious dirt bike accident in Central Park near Duck Pond Road. Upon arrival, authorities found the 17-year-old with serious injuries after she allegedly struck a chain barrier that separated areas of the park.
The teenager was treated on scene by department medics before being transported to Ellis Hospital, authorities said. She reportedly passed away from her injuries shortly after.
Officials said they will not be releasing the identity of the victim. The accident's investigation is being led by the police department and the sheriff's department's Crash Reconstruction Team.
