(FOX 5/KUSI) — A helicopter crew with the U.S. Coast Guard rescued 15 people who were on a disabled boat off the coast of San Diego on Tuesday.
The Coast Guard said the boat was located about 60 miles southwest of San Diego.
Pictures shared by the Coast Guard show what appears to be a metal boat with a motor attached floating in the ocean with people onboard.
The helicopter crew was able to pull up all 15 people in two trips and take them to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Over the last month, the Coast Guard intercepted two boats on separate occasions off the coast of Point Loma that were allegedly involved in smuggling attempts.
