The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:
It was frigid in some spots this morning! North and west of the Capital District, many were below zero for overnight lows!
Just like yesterday, a low deck of clouds will linger over the river valleys through the middle of the day, keeping temperatures below freezing. There's a chance for a few breaks of sun in the afternoon. Meanwhile, the hills will have more sunshine and will likely rise into the 30's.
Overnight and into tomorrow morning, clouds will thicken back up across the region and periods of freezing rain could move into the region.
The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the entire region from 1 AM to 1 PM Saturday. A light glaze of ice could make for slippery conditions.
Temperatures then rise to around 40 for Saturday afternoon. Even warmer for Sunday and Monday, with highs near 50 and widespread, steady rain. Many of us will lose the bulk of our snow cover!
Drier conditions are expected for New Year's Eve on Tuesday. Wednesday looks a little messy in some spots, with rain and (in the higher terrain) snow showers. Cooler for Thursday with temps mainly in the 30's.
