(KRON) – Four people are missing after a boat incident near Bodega Bay, according to the United States Coast Guard. One person has since died and another boater is being hospitalized.
The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office was notified of an overdue 21-foot white Bayliner boat that was crabbing off the coast of Bodega at 11:40 p.m. on Saturday. According to SCSO, three minors and three adults were on the boat. The boaters were a family of five and a family friend.
The SCSO said a cell phone ping indicated that the boat was last near Carmet Beach around 3 p.m.
Multiple agencies collaborated in the search for the six individuals when debris was found along the coast and two of the boats were located.
According to the United States Coast Guard, an 11-year-old passenger on the boat was pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old was found and hospitalized.
