SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- San Francisco fire officials are asking the public to avoid the area of Alemany Farmers Market in the Bernal Heights neighborhood as police investigate a medical emergency that left one dead and another suffering critical injuries on Thursday morning.

At 8:12 a.m., SFFD responded to a call for an “unknown medical emergency,” officials said. Two victims with traumatic injuries were located at the scene. One of the victims was pronounced deceased at the scene and the other was transported to a local hospital.

The circumstances surrounding the medical emergency are currently unknown. KRON4 has reached out to the San Francisco Police Department for information.

There is no estimated time for the local roadways to reopen.
