05/31/2025: A Fitting End to May
While rainfall is widespread, steady, and at times heavy this morning, we will see it lighten up and become more scattered as we progress through the PM hours of today.

The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologist Kevin Appleby:

It's Saturday. So of course, we have widespread rain this morning thanks to an area of low pressure passing just to our east. While rainfall is widespread, steady, and at times heavy this morning, we will see it lighten up and become more scattered as we progress through the PM hours of today.

Many areas will see around an inch of rain, with locally higher amounts to the southeast and locally lower amounts farther northwest.
Temperatures will hardly budge, optimistically rising into the low 60s with a bit of PM dry time. A breeze will pick up this afternoon, gusting to 30 MPH.
Despite cloud cover sticking around, the winds will bring in cooler air tonight, dropping temperatures into the mid 40s. Showers should taper after midnight.

After a bit of morning sun, clouds will quickly return, and a few showers will develop into the afternoon hours. These will be hit-or-miss, quick-hitting showers. During the daytime, the highest shower chance exists south of the Mohawk Valley. Tomorrow night until around midnight, there's a better chance for a few showers in the North Country as our storm system pulls away from the region.
Temperatures will climb into the upper 50s and lower 60s, with continued wind gusts to around 30 MPH.
A big pattern shift to more summer-like weather will take place through the upcoming work week as an upper level ridge of high pressure centers itself over the Carolinas, bringing us increasing temperatures and humidity.
That means Monday, which will already be about 10 degrees warmer than the weekend, with be by far the coolest day of the upcoming work week. The temperatures trend warmer for Tuesday, with highs near 80 degrees. Both days will feature no shortage of sunshine, though at times there will be some high-level cirrus and fair-weather cumulus that overspread or develop over the region.
The mugginess will become very apparent starting on Wednesday, a theme that will carry us through the remainder of the work week. Temperatures will flirt with 90 degrees on Wednesday, which looks to be our warmest day of the season so far. While Wednesday is strongly favored to stay dry, I do not think we will be as lucky with the continued heat & humidity for Thursday and Friday as a few weak disturbances should tap into a favorable air mass in place and produce a few showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon hours of each day. By no means are either Thursday or Friday looking close to a washout!
